General Questions:

Q:  What is SuperVirals?

A:  SuperVirals is a new creative platform where you can win big prizes by creating and uploading original ideas for sponsor brands. Which means it's also the place to see the best new viral content on the web!

Q:  How does SuperVirals work?

It's super simple
  1. You come up with an original idea to fit the Creator Brief in an open competition.
  2. You upload your idea before the open competition's countdown timer runs out.
  3. When the competition goes live, all of its ideas can be viewed, watched, listened to and shared.
  4. The more an idea gets checked out and commented upon the higher its SuperVirals Score gets.
  5. When the live competition's countdown timer reaches zero the idea with the highest qualifying SuperVirals Score is verified to win the Creator Prize!

Q:  Why should I create ideas for big brands?

A:  Because you can win big prizes!
Brands on SuperVirals understand that your original ideas are as fresh and cut-through as they get! They believe in your creative talent and they're backing your efforts and ideas with huge prizes.

Q:  Isn't SuperVirals just another video-sharing site?

A:  Nope. SuperVirals is where big brands actually reward people's creativity - unlike most sharing sites where a creator's only payback is a moment of webfame. Plus, on SuperVirals you can also upload and share all sorts of image and audio ideas too!

Q:  What makes an idea's SuperVirals Score increase?

A:  An idea's SuperVirals Score increases when a logged in user (who isn't its creator) checks it out or comments about it.

Q:  Does it cost anything to enter a SuperVirals competition?

A:  Nope. Zilch. The brands on the site have paid to tap into your creative talents.

Q:  How many ideas can I upload?

A:  As many as you like. The more great ideas you upload, the more chance you have of one of them going viral and landing you the prize.

Q:  What gives me the best chance of winning a Creator Prize?

A:  Creating standout original ideas! Videos, images or audio ideas that are really funny, weirdly unusual or just plain outrageous stand the best chance of going viral. You can also improve your idea getting a winning SuperVirals Score by sharing it with as many people as possible. The more people you bring to SuperVirals who check out your idea and register the better!

Q:  What happens if my idea finishes with the highest SuperVirals Score?

A:  We'll get in touch ASAP to verify some of your key account details including your residential address and your age. We also conduct a thorough electronic and manual audit of the scoring pattern of your idea at this time. When you satisfy the criteria you'll be confirmed as the winner and the competition's prize is yours!

Q:  How can I share my ideas with as many people as possible?

A:  When you click on the 'Share' button next to an idea you can:

  1. Email a link to the idea to friends straight from the SuperVirals website
  2. Cut and paste a text link to the idea into your own email application so it's easy to send to people in your existing address book
  3. Cut and paste some web code so you can add the idea to your personal blog, MySpace or other website page.
  4. Post the idea on popular websites such as digg and del.icio.us

Q:  Can't I just email my SuperVirals idea to my friends?

A:  You wouldn't want to! Only when your idea is accessed on the SuperVirals website will its SuperVirals Score be increased to help you win the prize.

Q:  Can I upload my idea onto other sharing websites too?

A:  You could, but it won't help you win the Creator Prize. If you upload your original file onto other sharing websites it will dilute your chance of winning. To give yourself the best possible chance of winning you need people to only access your idea on SuperVirals so its SuperVirals Score keeps going up and up!

Q:  What are the competition countdown timers for?

A:  In open competitions accepting new ideas the countdown timer shows how much time's left to upload ideas. And in live competitions it shows how much time's left before the winner is decided by having the highest SuperVirals Score.

Q:  Why do some competitions run for different durations?

A:  Some brands may give you longer to think about the Creator Brief and upload your ideas while others may want to make their competition a quick-thinking race to the prize!

Q:  Can I suggest brands I would like to create ideas for?

A:  For sure. We'd love you to hear from you! Just visit the Open Comps page and submit what Dream Brands you would like to see competitions for. We'll then do our best to get them on SuperVirals!

Q:  What do the country flags on a brand's competition page mean?

A:  The flags indicate which country's registered SuperVirals users are eligible to win the prize for that particular competition. Anyone can create, watch and share SuperVirals ideas, but only Creators from the countries indicated by the flags are eligible to win the prize for that particular competition.

Q:  Why do you need my real name and postal address details?

A:  In case you win the prize! We need to be able to get in touch with you should our attempts by email be unsuccessful. You'd want to know if you won, wouldn't you? And don't worry about spam as we take your privacy very seriously. SuperVirals will never give your details to anyone unless you give us permission to do so.

Q:  Can I play a part in improving the SuperVirals site?

A:  You bet! We want SuperVirals to be the most rewarding new idea platform on the web. Let us know your thoughts on how we can make it better by sending your suggestions via our Contact page.

Q: Does SuperVirals respect copyright, trademarks and other intellectual property laws?

A:  Absolutely. If you believe there is an idea on the SuperVirals website that contains protected material please let us know via the Contact page and we'll investigate it immediately. If the material has been used without permission we'll remove it from the site.

Creative Guidelines:

Q:  What are the SuperVirals Creative Guidelines?

A:  To help your idea make it through to the live phase of a SuperVirals competition, and to give it the best chance of winning it's worth sticking to a few simple common sense rules:

  • Don't diss the brand…
  • Don't show or encourage anything illegal…
  • Don't include ANY copyright protected material such as any pre-recorded music and clips from TV or DVDs etc...
  • Do keep your private parts covered up!
  • Don't be boring!
  • Click here for the SuperVirals Acceptable Content Guidelines.

Q:  What style of ideas should I do for the competition?

A:  Anything you like - just as long as YOU created it! SuperVirals is all about YOUR unique creative ideas. So don't waste your time copying the boring ads you see on TV, hear on the radio or see in print... Big simple standout ideas are always the best! Check out the Winner's Gallery and high scorers in current live competitions to see examples of what stands out.

Q:  What kind of media can I upload?

A:  Your ideas can take the form of a video, photos, illustrations, text, spoken words, original songs or original music. Just create and upload ideas you think will cut though the drudge and spread like crazy to help make you a SuperVirals winner!

Q:  Do I have to show or mention the brand in my idea?

A:  It all comes down to the competition's Creator Brief. To make it through to the competition's live phase your idea should promote the brand you've chosen in a positive way, though it doesn't have to blatantly plug it like some kind of boring old-fashioned ad!

Q:  Can I include music in my ideas?

A:  Only if you have actually written and created it yourself. Remember, if you use any copyright protected material in your SuperVirals idea it will not make it through to the live phase of the competition. And, if it does slip through our screening process and the copyright holder notifies us of its illegal use, your idea will be removed from the competition immediately.

Q:  Can I find any music I can use on the web?

A:  Do an internet search for 'Copyright Free and Royalty Free Music'. There are numerous services that can help you, but you may have to pay a small fee and be sure to check if there are any restrictions for the track you intend to use. Plus, make sure you keep a record of where you got the copyright free and royalty free music from. We'll need to confirm with them the music's ownership status for your idea to be eligible to win the prize.

Techincal Questions:

Q:  What file types can I upload?

A:  SuperVirals is the home of the big idea - whatever the file type! Your ideas can be videos, photos, illustrations, scans, text, cartoons, original songs or music that you have created yourself.

Q:  Is there a file size limit?

A:  SuperVirals accepts video file sizes up to 20MB, audio file sizes up to 20MB and image file sizes up to 5MB.

Q:  Why can't I share my idea from SuperVirals as soon as I've uploaded it?

A:  Ideas can only be publicly viewed and shared once a competition has gone from its upload phase (the period when entries are accepted) to its live phase (the period when entries may be viewed, shared and scored). This is so all the ideas in a competition can be shared for the same duration, keeping it fair and giving each one exactly the same chance of winning.

Also, having two competition phases gives SuperVirals the opportunity to check if any uploaded ideas contain copyright protected material or breach the SuperVirals Creative Guidelines.

Q:  Why do I need to add a title and description to my idea?

A:  To help users search for your idea on the site more easily. The easier it is for them to locate your idea, the easier it is for you to get a higher SuperVirals Score and win the prize!

Q:  Can I click on my own idea repeatedly so I win the Creator Prize for myself?

A:  Sorry scammers the answer is a big NO! Only one click per logged in user per day will contribute to an idea's SuperVirals Score. Our security software will detect any user who attempts to do tricky stuff with automated bots etc! Their access will blocked and account suspended!
SuperVirals is a creative democracy - so play fair and may the best idea win!

Q:  If I check out other people's ideas in a competition that I have an entry in, won't I disadvantage myself by adding to their SuperVirals Scores?

A:  Nope. When you're logged in the scoring system recognises this, so you can check out your competitors' ideas to your heart's content - and it won't add to their scores!

Q:  Can I delete my ideas from SuperVirals?

A:  You can. Simply send a request via the Contact page.

Q:  Who owns the ideas I upload to SuperVirals?

A:  To enter your idea into a competition it's a requirement that you assign all intellectual property rights to SuperVirals. For more information check out the User Agreement.

Q:  How long will my ideas be kept on SuperVirals?

A:  Winning ideas are displayed in the Winners Gallery. For other entries we will periodically delete ideas from our servers, however, popular ideas will remain on the site for as long as people want to view or share them. So remember, it's your responsibility to keep the original file of your idea if it's important to you.
